The Good News

Welcome everyone,

We are followers of Jesus Christ and we are here to share the Good News of God’s Kingdom.

Our hope is to be able to reach as many people as possible, as Jesus instructed in Matthew 28

The Great Commission

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Please feel free to leave your comments, questions, and suggestions for future posts. We are excited to share and engage with everyone on this blog, regarding the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Peace be with you sisters and brothers in Christ!

Sincerely, felicia and the team at payattentionnow.org

What is the “Good News” you may be asking yourself. About 2000 years ago, God sent His only begotten Son (John 3:16) Jesus the Messiah, to make a way for mankind to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, repent, be forgiven of their sins, and be accepted into God’s kingdom – as stated in the New Testament, Gospel of Mark, Chapter 1:

John the Baptist Prepares the Way

The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God, as it is written in Isaiah the prophet:

“I will send my messenger ahead of you,
    who will prepare your way”—
“a voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
    make straight paths for him.’”

And so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. John wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. And this was his message: “After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

The Baptism and Testing of Jesus

At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10 Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11 And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”

12 At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness, 13 and he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.

Jesus Announces the good news

14 After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. 15 “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

The Gospels

The four Gospels in the New Testament tell of the Good News of Jesus the Messiah; they explain His life, ministry, and teachings, and tell so much about our Heavenly Father, the Kingdom of Heaven, and how much we are loved by our Heavenly Father.

Personally, my favorite Gospel is Luke… I guess because it’s the longest one! If you’ve read them, which one is your favorite and why?

  1. “Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?” (Matthew 6:27)

Will worrying about something make me taller? No. Jesus commands us to eliminate our anxiety about what may or may not happen in the future. We must become comfortable not knowing.

  2. “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:62)

When I was about 16 years old, I asked my grandfather (Henry Fisher) about this verse. He said the reason Jesus uses this analogy is because when you’re plowing and you look behind you, you begin to plow a “crooked row.” So, you never look behind you when you’re plowing.

Jesus dissolves the future (worry) and the past (regret).

  3. “the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand” . . . here, now, not in the future (worry, self-doubt, insecurities, fear); not in the past (sorrow, regret, bitterness, anger), . . . here, now.

    1. Amen! “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven”. Matthew 6:10
Jesus wanted us to represent heaven on earth, now, while we are here. It’s here now! 🙏
