In the gospels, Jesus said:
“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!”
Matthew 6:22-23

The lamp of the Body
“No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness. See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be just as full of light as when a lamp shines its light on you.”
Luke 11:33-36

Below is a list of some things to consider limiting, cutting down on, or completely cutting out to help your eye gates and ear gates stay healthy. Please don’t take this as a list of instructions from me, but think it over, pray to our Heavenly Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit to guide you in the right direction and give you conviction if you should reconsider these things in your life.
- Netflix
- Tv shows about ghosts
- Tv shows about aliens
- Ghost hunting
- Secular music
- Any shows/movies that do not glorify God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit
- Phone games, candy crush, etc.
- Alcohol
- Nicotine
- Any decorations or home decor that could be used in witchcraft or the occult
- TikTok

For me personally, limiting and cutting some of these things has allowed me to have more time to read God’s word, journal my prayers, practice on my painting hobby, and spend quiet time in reflection and speaking with God. Everytime I get in my car I play Christian music or Air 1 and get to worship God on the way to wherever I’m going – which makes the drive and traffic so much more enjoyable and tolerable! Some areas I’m still working on are: more consistent prayer time at the beginning and end of my day, and staying off the YouTube shorts. One click and you get sucked in the rabbit hole, and before you know it, a whole hour has gone by that you could have used spending time with God, your family, or your friends. You use your time and put it to good use. Be Fruitful.
This reminds me of what Jesus said in John 15:1-9 NIV
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.”
