The :07 second prayer

Take time to pray

Here is an example of a short seven second prayer you can say anytime, anywhere, in any situation; on your way to work, sitting in traffic, standing in line for coffee, while laying in bed, sitting at your desk at work…

Lord, anything for thee. Please tell me and show me how to fulfill Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You can say it as often as you like, whenever you need guidance from the Lord, or whenever you just want to speak to Him.

Praying is so important when it comes to building and maintaining a relationship with our Heavenly Father. From experience I know how difficult it can be to have a strong prayer life. We all have busy lives, and sometimes it can seem like there aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything accomplished on our to-do lists, but having a strong prayer life is vital for a believer. Here are some reasons believers might find it hard to integrate regular prayer into their lives:

  • Believe they don’t have time to pray
  • Don’t know what to pray
  • Don’t know how to pray

It is my belief that our Heavenly Father wants to hear from his children often, during all occasions; good times, bad times, stressful times, times of peace, or times of rest. Basically, pray without ceasing. And this will be different for everyone, this could mean going into your prayer closet or secret place to spend time with the Lord, or speaking with him when you are alone in your car, on a walk, or speaking to him in your thoughts. You don’t need any eloquent, ritualistic words, or religious traditions to speak with Him. God already knows what is in your heart. It doesn’t have to be long or drawn out, just say what’s on your heart and mind, He already knows. He just wants to hear from you.

The Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 5 16-18 :

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

And of course, Jesus said it best, sermon on the mount, Matthew 6 5-15:

Prayer
“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

“This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
