Funny name for a website, I know. Please allow me to explain. In the latter part of 2020, and into 2021, I repeatedly found myself feeling like the Holy Spirit was whispering to me and reminding me to “pay attention”. So I started to pay more attention, and better attention to my surroundings; at home, at work, and in the world around me. Gradually, it was as if my spiritual eyes and ears were awakened. The spiritual “scales” started to fall off of my eyes. I looked back and recounted all the ways and times I was influenced and manilpulated by the evil one… everything started to make sense and was clearer than ever before. I believe God was giving me insight and knowledge into the spiritual realm so I could finally understand that there is a REAL spiritual war going on around us, every day, all the time. I was also reminded of various times throughout my life when He protected me.
This past year my spiritual life has gone through a complete overhaul. Looking back on my life, I would best describe the old me as being a lukewarm Christian. I’ve always been a believer in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, but I didn’t always have a personal relationship with Them, and sometimes I found myself going through the religious motions and traditions. There were also times in my life where I unfortunately strayed far away from the Lord, I was heavy in sin, and my conscience was seared so badly that I had forgotten about the consequences of those sins. The bible clearly states the wages of sin is death, and the only solution is through Christ Jesus…
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
Every sin, no matter how big or how small, everytime the devil whispered in my ear and I took the bait, the further and further away it led me from God.
This last year I repented of my sins and asked the Lord for his forgiveness. I know my sins were many and I did not deserve to be forgiven, but our Heavenly Father made it possible through His son, Christ Jesus. The Apostle Paul speaks of what happens after a person is born again through Christ Jesus in 2nd Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Now that I’m a new creation through Christ, I intend to try and follow His will as best as I can every day. Every day I learn something new about the Lord, and every day I crave to be closer and closer to Him. I am on fire for the Lord, and I am no longer lukewarm. My goal is to remove all distractions that keep me from having a relationship with Him. I decided to deny myself, take up my cross, and follow Jesus wholeheartedly.
Of course, there are still times when I fall short or mess up, and I am certainly not perfect, but I can try harder every day because I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! (Phillipians 4:13)
The following scriptures in the bible speak of “paying attention”
The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.
Deuteronomy 28:13
Judgment Against the Nations
Come near, you nations, and listen; pay attention, you peoples! Let the earth hear, and all that is in it, the world, and all that comes out of it!
Isaiah 34:1
Warning to pay attention
We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.
Hebrews 2:1-4
We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
2 Peter 1:19
I believe Jesus said it best in John 14: “I am the way and the truth and the life. no one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
